  1. FoneBook V1.0

  3. This application is firstly an address and phone book for your P.C. with some
  4. interesting extra features which I hope you like.
  5.  
  6. Firstly this is an MDI application so you can maintain a number of FoneBook documents
  7. for whatever purposes you wish.
  8.  
  9. As you would expect there is a Search & Find feature with which you can locate
  10. a person's details by entering their first or second name. the "FoneBook" can
  11. also be read record by record sorted on either first or second name.
  12. Records can be added and marked for deletion - and marked records can be removed
  13. permanently.
  14. The entire FoneBook may be printed.
  15.  
  16. Each persons birthday can be stored and there is a "Birthday Check" routine which
  17. will create the document "birthday.fbk" containing the details of all upcoming 
  18. birthdays. You can set a default for how far ahead this routine checks for and whether
  19. to call it automatically on startup. If the latter is set the Birthday Check will only
  20. be invoked on the first startup each day - to prevent it becoming a nuisance.

  22. If you already have your address book details in a database and want to transfer them
  23. to FoneBook, and this database supports ODBC - all you have to do is invoke the 
  24. Database Append routine. You will be able to pick the ODBC DataSource & Table Name
  25. you want to import the information from, and match the fields in the Database Table
  26. with their matching fields in FoneBook. All the Records in the chosen database table
  27. will then be appended to the active document.

  31. the extra feature of exporting a FoneBook to a Database in a similar way to the Append
  32. routine.

  50. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  51. before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
  52. using it, you are expected to register within a certain period.

  54. continue using the software to an updated program with

  66. permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their

  71. whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes
  72. fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.

  75. product, you don't pay for it.

  84. consequential, which may result from the use of FoneBook."

  86. FoneBook is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  87. to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your
  88. friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
  89. another system.  The essence of "user-supported" software is to
  90. provide personal computer users with quality software without
  91. high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to
  92. continue to develop new products.  If you find this program
  93. useful and find that you are using FoneBook and continue to use
  94. FoneBook after a reasonable trial period, you must make a
  95. registration payment of ú20 or $40 (US) to me at the address below. 
  96. This registration fee will license one copy for use on any one
  97. computer at any one time.  You must treat this software just like
  98. a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any
  99. number of people and may be freely moved from one computer
  100. location to another, so long as there is no possibility of it
  101. being used at one location while it is being used at another.
  102. Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the
  103. same time.

  105. Commercial users of FoneBook must register and pay for their
  106. copies of FoneBook within 30 days of first use or their license
  107. is withdrawn.  Site license arrangements may be made by contacting
  108. me at the address below.

  111. DISTRIBUTION

  113. Anyone distributing FoneBook for any kind of remuneration must
  114. first contact me at the address below.

  116. This authorization will be automatically granted to distributors
  117. recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines for
  118. shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin offering
  119. FoneBook immediately. (However, I must still be notified so that 
  120. the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latestversion of 
  121. FoneBook).

  123. You are encouraged to pass a copy of FoneBook along to your
  124. friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their
  125. copy if they find that they can use it.  All registered users
  126. will receive a copy of the latest version of the FoneBook
  127. system.

  129. Notice that the copy of FoneBook can only be distributed as a whole,
  130. i.e. all files included in the compressed file must remain in the
  131. package. See the file "CONTENTS.LST" for the files in the package.
